Today was a mixed bag:
First off was a morning walk in the woods. The views once again were spectacular. Moss and old ruins everywhere.
Colene, Karina and Kyan drove to Bath for lunch and looked around( another way of saying shopping). Michael and Andrew went to an original Cider making farm.which Somerset is renowned. The cider was very nice with no preservatives, made of just apples and sugar.
It is about 6.8% alcohol, so after a pint you start to feel the effects. They used to make cider by putting a dead rat into the vat to help it ferment. Thank goodness they don't do that nowadays. As you can see from the photo, there is no stainless steel piece of equipment in sight.  The Australian Health dept would have it closed down immediately, but it all adds to the flavour, so they say, and we all agreed.
Martin, Charlotte's father, has a clay shooting cage and a clay trap. We went out into the field next to the house (some 20 acres bordered by roads) and Martin set up the trap and cage and we shot clay targets. The pellets go to the edge of  a hedge before the road. Michael, Andrew and Chris' mates form OZ took tuns in shooting clay targets - lots of fun.

Charlotte and the girls were busily making the cup cakes for the wedding, so when it came to our evening meal, the girls continued making their cakes and the boys headed off  to a local pub.

There are 3 pubs within about 5 miles. Remember this is a farming area, we wondered how they kept in business. At this pub there is a skittles alley. It looks like a poor man's ten pin alley. You roll the balls back from the skittles end  by a wall mounted gutter made from wood.

The only one I have seen in Australia is at Ballarat gold fields. We all had a great time. The beer is relatively flat compared to OZ with no head and the beer taps pumped it out rather than let it pour. It is very easy to drink as you don't get bloated. So very easy to drink a couple of pints!
Shopping count
Colene ..... I give up
Karina...almost giving up
Michael .....some pickle onions, unpasteurised cheese and a few pints.
Andrew.... more pints.
