Day 2 in Venice

Our room here is something Franco Cotso from Footascray  would be proud of.  The walls are lined with padded, embossed fabric with contrasting fabric curtains, bedspread and upholstery.

Up and out early this morning dressed for the cold but we were pleasantly surprised to see the sun shining and the temperature was 21.

We caught a ferry to San Giorgio Maggiore Church for the best view of Venice.  Another great Cathedral built in the early 1600s.

We then went back to the main island and further explored the maze of allies.  There was no chance of getting lost as all we had to do was follow the receipts back!  Tried the local cakes, had a lovely lunch in the sun.  Although the meals here a pricey, worth it for the atmosphere and views.

From our balcony we can see and hear the Pavarotti singing oarsmen on their Gondolas passing by.

Walked all day, early night once again.

Ciao
A great church with a view.
We have lit candles at every church or cathedral we have visited
View from the bell tower at San Giorgio Maggiore. We felt like Quasimodo, as the bell rang while we were in the tower.
There are hundreds of shops displaying fantastic masks. Yes it is a mask you can wear.  This was a bit different. It even has a tongue ring.
 Gondola, Gondola everywhere....

 View from our balcony...
No your eyes are not deceiving you the tower is on a lean.
No wonder the Italians like their food....
This was our lunch. This is what 50 euros gets you in Venice.

Colene on our balcony....
